While being in Australia for work, I profitted the occasion of ordering some flexible brake line and fittings from aero flow performance (aeroflowperformance.com).
This company specializes in race car industry but the AN fittings are identical to airplane flare fittings and kan be used. They have a wide variety of fitting types and I found the idea of flexible lines in front of the firewall going down to the landing gear and into the brake cylinder a lot better than the soft aluminum tubing solution Vans describes in the plans.
Here is a picture of a disconnected fitting before installing the steel webbed nylon tube.
The most difficult thing here is to cut the tube. As the outer shell is steel, it's pretty hard to make a nice straight cut without too much disturbance of the outer and keeping a clean cut on the inner nylon tube .
As don't have a good cable cutter availabl, I made a setup like this.
In the next article I'll make a picture of the cut tube and how it inserts in the fitting.
Here is an image of the pilot side fuel line completed. The places where the electrical tool is had transparant tabing around it to protect it from chafing as indicated on the vans plans. This is a temporary setup, I'll make a nice and clean version when the other side is also ready.
