The new paint booth is finally ready for action. I made a new filterbox that is attached to an old 800W french fries shop engine to extract the fumes and overspray from the spray shop. The filterbox has a labyrinth filter.
The function of this filter is to slow down the particles of paint of the overspray and make them fall down in the box.
The labyrinth filter works very well, looking at the exhaust of the engine, there are no visible marks of paint in the surrounds. The only problem of a good working air extraction is that the solvents are now blown out very well and I have to find a way to lead them further away or wait until the wind blows in the right direction.

I am now using a new primer. The Zinc Chromate scared the..... out of me at the end. Decided to go with an epoxy primer. 

The components are:

EPOXY PRIMER CF 37112
CURING SOLUTION EP CF 37112 (hardner)
THINNER C 25/90 S  (to control the viscosity of the paint)

This is also the primer that Airbus is using for corossion protection. It's quite expensive but very good material with strong mechanical characteristics.

Since this was the first time I used this new primer, Hugo came by to give some assistance.

And then it was pssshhhhhhhht, pssshhhhhhht....

This primer sprays very well and it's much easier to apply then the zinc chromate

After a heavy prime session, the workshop was full of skin plates.

Ready for rivetting them on the main wing now.
