'I got a feeling... that tonight's gonna be a good night...'

Well, I sent of my official request to the Bestuur der Luchtvaart according to the circulaire AIRW03 that will grant me permission to start building my RV-7.

It left by post and they will respond in 30 days. I had some contacts before to Mr Brotcorne and he assured me the plane is already allowed in Belgium and the quality of the kit has been proven.

So it could go quite fast.

The request letter

A few weeks later, i received a letter that a technical engineer from the authorities would come by to check my workshop.
I was at first a bit scared about this idea. After all, this guy is used to visit airplane factories and stands daily next to Boeings. And now he would visit my one car garage with a workbench, self-constructed by some EAA plans and call this my airplane construction hangar. If I would be the guy, I would probably burst out in laughter and not get by for the next hour.

Despite all my feats, the visit went very smooth and was very informal as well. Besides checking adequate lighting and heating, he noted some calibration numbers of my torque wrench and that was it.

Another week later, the official letter came in that I was allowed to start building my RV-7 in my "officially approved" workshop.
