After cutting the circular analog instruments. It's time to cut out the modules template of the Dynon modules. The Dynon modules consist of the autopilot AP panel, the COM radio panel, the Baro and Heading knob panel and the intercom panel. All panels have the same cut out template except for the intercom which is rectangular.

I started by drawing the first panel cut layout on the panel. The four modules will be vertical and aligned in a 2x2 block between the analog instruments and the actual Dynon HDX1000 display unit.

First I drilled holes in the corners in order to maintain rounded corners.

then started drilling away along the contours in order to make cutting easier.

Then used a cutting wheel on the dremmel tool to cut through the centers and ended up with this hole. Now it's just a matter of filing down to the line and fitting the module.

Next I deburred and smoothed the edges until there was a good fit of the module.

It looks cool getting these things mounted to the panel. The holes for the screws will be drilled at a later stage when all modules are installed and alignment can be assured.

I continued on the other modules and got some help along the way from my son Matthias.
